“HANDS ON” LEARNING FOR SOCIETY:CHALLENGE AND CHANGE CLASS
The Grade 12 Society Challenge and Change class remained very involved in social issues and their connection to the greater community. Students surveyed the student body about substance abuse and then created a presentation for the UP conference at the Kempenfelt Centre in Barrie.
Society students also organized and promoted the White Ribbon Campaign, spreading awareness about violence towards women. In addition, the class ran a very successful Angels with Backpacks fundraiser. Twenty-two backpacks were generated by MSS, packed, and delivered to the Angels team for distribution to homeless people in the Midland area.In Semester II, the Society class helped organize and promote the annual Staff/Student hockey game. Proceeds from the game were donated by the class to the Out of the Cold program in Midland. Congratulations class!
